Job Description

My client is a leading Automotive Company who require a Design Engineer The person in this position will develop concepts and detailed drawings for components used in developing a low cost CR pump for the automotive market based on a current design. Therefore he/she will be involved in the conceptual phase and will be responsible for design content on components for the pump in conjunction with the Lead Designer for that pump. The person will also be responsible FEA analysis and other modelling.

Design & detailing of components for developing a low cost diesel fuel pump for the automotive market. Apply FEA and other numerical analysis tools for the design and optimisation of the product. Conduct competitive analysis and bench marking of competitors components for function and cost. Conduct analysis of other leverage product areas for new ideas to advance the art in pumps (new stretch ideas) Apply ICIM methods using DOE s, 6 Sigma, Green Y and other statistical tools to achieve design robustness. (Training will be provided to fill current gaps in experience level) Assure GD&T and other drafting standards are applied to new component drawings. Recommend design changes that assure the program meets cost, DFM, performance and timing goals. Drive appropriate balancing of product performance and cost requirements with input from Lead Designer. Facilitate fast and accurate two-way communication with development and process engineers to assure robust design and flawless launch objectives. Engineering degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent. Required Must be innovative and visionary in developing design options. - Required Must understand and apply physics to the design. - Required

Solid Works experience including FEA analysis. - Required Experience in design and or development engineering. - Required HP Pump and or fuel systems experience. - Required Ability to develop and present technical presentations to customers and others. - Required. Developed and supported a product that was taken successfully into volume production. - Preferred DOE and statistical analysis knowledge.- Preferred Must be willing to travel for training, work with customers and for problem resolution on projects as necessary. -Required
